This is a poster I made for my copy writing class. We were assigned to make a poster for our choice of film. I decided to use Fight Club (since I always do) and made this poster. Anyway, I was the first to present and I felt really stupid afterwards. Some of my classmates & professor commented and I really felt they were right. This isn’t one of my best.
So if you’ve seen the film or read the book, then you’d know the logic behind the soap, which the movie used for teasers. I made a poster for fight club a few years back and used the soap and bomb as elements for it. I decided to change it this time, cause if you analyse the film, although soap was a recurring symbol, it wasn’t about that.
I used this particular image to show an archetype. That’s all. Although, yeah, I agree the blood kinda looks like ketchup, and I didn’t follow the color scheme, changed the font, didn’t include the necessary text, etc. I’d still use the same idea for my revision. And, c’mon I did this for like 10 mins in Photoshop at around 1:30 am, apparently playing tetris battle the whole night makes time fly so fast.
Of course for my revision, I’d change my execution. Two guys told me it would look way better if I photo-manipulated it rather than graphic art-ed it. Haha Yeah, I think I’ll follow that. I also realized that I was in the wrong class to show my graphic concepts. It’s a copy writing class intended for advertising, it’s not supposed to showcase artist’s individual style (but of course you can, just in a way that would please your target audience). I was just so fascinated with minimal movie posters I saw over the internet so I’ve been making them for quite some time now.
So anyway, I’m gonna change this. Gonna search for references over the internet to manipulate with. :)
